The train platform was extremely crowded and we’d already been waiting in the hot sun for a while when a train finally pulled into the station. The signs on the train all said it was going to a town in the other direction. Because I had come from the direction the train was facing, I was sure it was going the way we needed to go, so despite the signs, we hopped on board.
We rode for a couple stops and then the train pulled into our station. The announcement, however, gave the name of a town the train had already passed through. I couldn’t see the sign on the platform, but I was sure we were in the right place. How could I be so sure? Because I had studied the map.
That’s the thing. Sometimes all the signs will say one thing, but the truth is something completely different. Study the truth. Get to know it. Then the signs won’t confuse you. If we had followed the signs, we’d still be standing at the station. If we had gotten off based on the announcement, we would have been in the wrong place.
Only the truth will get you to your destination.
